What determines the price of a website?

Every project is costed individually. What drives the price, how website builders, freelancers and agencies differ, and what you pay after launch.

How we arrive at your price

We work with four tiers. Which one fits depends on the scope, not on your industry. The largest project costs several times what the smallest one does — a price in the shop window would be wide of the mark in most cases. That's why we cost your project individually: after the free initial consultation, as a fixed price within 48 hours.

All packages in detail →
Starter

For the self-employed and small businesses that need a clean online presence with up to 5 pages.

Shop & AI

For anyone who wants to sell online, book appointments automatically or run an AI chat.

Custom

For portals, web apps and shops with custom logic. We scope it individually and quote a fixed price.

Every project is costed individually. Final prices: under §19 UStG (German small business regulation) no VAT is charged. Your fixed price is set after the initial consultation and does not change afterwards.

What determines the price

Six factors decide where your project lands. For each one we say what increases the work involved and what reduces it.

Number of pages

Every page needs structure, copy and images. Up to 5 pages is Starter, up to 10 pages is Business. It gets cheaper if you combine content: all services on one page instead of five.

Design: custom design or template

We design every website from scratch, without a template. You get something that exists nowhere else. It gets more involved with lots of bespoke layouts or animations. An existing logo and fixed brand colours save review rounds.

Features

A contact form is standard. Booking, client area, shop or AI chat are separate building blocks with their own logic and their own tests. Whatever you only need later, we build later.

Content: copy, photos, translations

If you supply copy and photos yourself, you save money. If we write the copy or select and prepare images, that appears as a separate item in the quote. Finished content also shortens the build.

Multiple languages

Each language gets its own URLs so Google can find it. On top come translation and updating every change twice. Two languages are perfectly manageable; from the third it gets noticeably more expensive.

Legal and accessibility

GDPR without trackers is included from Starter, WCAG accessibility from Business. Since 28 June 2025, businesses selling to consumers online are often legally required to have it (German Accessibility Act, BFSG). Whether that applies to you is a question for your lawyer, not for us.

Website builder, freelancer, agency or Muri Design?

All four can be the right choice. It depends on how distinctive you want your presence to be, how much time you want to invest yourself and who owns the website in the end.

What comes after launch

A website is not free after go-live, but the items are manageable.

Hosting & maintenance
As a monthly package. Includes updates, backups and security monitoring. You never have to worry about servers or security vulnerabilities. The package is optional; the website works without us too.
Domain
Your domain is registered in your name, not ours. You pay the annual fee directly to the registrar. That way the address stays yours, even if you change providers.
Content updates
New opening hours or a new team member: you make such changes yourself, or you send them to us. We implement them on request and tell you the price up front.
Further development
Every extension gets its own fixed-price quote, whether that is booking or a second language. You start small and expand when the need arises.

Frequently asked questions about website costs

Because very different things are sold under the name “website”. A customised template is not the same as a custom design, and a site with a shop or booking is not the same as a business card on the web. On top of that comes how much of the work sits with the provider and how much with you. So always ask: what is included, what is not, and will the price still change?

Yes, that is actually the usual route. Starter with up to 5 pages is enough for many businesses to begin with. We add booking or a second language later, each with its own fixed-price quote. We build from the start so that nothing has to be redone for that.

A fixed price. After the initial consultation you receive a quote with a clear scope and a clear amount; as long as the scope does not change, the price does not change. Muri Design operates as a small business under § 19 UStG, so we charge no VAT — the amount in the quote is the final price.

After about 30 minutes of initial consultation you have an estimate; within 48 hours at the latest you have a written fixed-price quote. The conversation is free and commits you to nothing. We reply to enquiries within 24 hours.
